why i'm running

I’m running for Metro Council because I believe that every family deserves the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children.

That means ensuring that we have housing that’s affordable, transportation systems that are safe and efficient, and an economy that creates high-wage jobs. It also means accountability, and making sure taxpayers see value from the services and programs they’re investing in.

Affordable Housing & Homeownership

  • Build more housing faster, of all kinds and in every community

  • Expand pathways to homeownership so families can stay in their communities

  • Reform land-use and permitting barriers that drive up costs and delay projects

I’ll make sure that we protect the farm and forest land that we all love, while ensuring that we have enough land to build housing and create jobs for our families.

We need housing of all kinds – single-family homes, condos, rental apartments, and transitional housing and shelters – to make sure everyone has a safe and stable place to call home. More housing, built faster in the places we need it, makes housing more affordable for everyone.

Reliable Transportation & Safe Communities

  • Efficient transportation planning that reduces traffic & pollution

  • Invest in reliable, safe public transit connecting housing to job centers

  • Build safer streets for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users

I’ll make sure that we rethink how transportation works in an era of remote work, mobile professionals, and climate crisis.

We need highways that move people and goods where it needs to go, while minimizing congestion and the pollution it causes. We need bus and transit systems that go where people live, that show up on time, and are safe and comfortable to ride. We need sidewalks in neighborhoods to keep folks safe when walking to school or local shops.

Creating Jobs to Help Families Thrive

  • Support smart land use decisions that lead to the creation of high-wage jobs

  • Support workforce development and apprenticeship opportunities that help working families thrive

  • Ensure small businesses get a shot at the work on public projects

We need good family-wage jobs right here in Washington County and across the region. That means supporting our neighborhood small businesses, our visionary entrepreneurs, and workers fighting to get ahead. When local government invests in transportation, housing, and other projects, we’ll support Oregon companies to do the work and hire local people to do the work.

Supportive Services That Save Lives

  • Ensure our homelessness programs use resources wisely to deliver results

  • Keep people housed before they’re in crisis through prevention and stabilization

  • Give service providers the support they need to improve performance

If we are serious about housing everyone, then we have to be just as serious about building a system that can actually deliver on homelessness support services — with transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement at its core.

Let’s build a region that works for everyone!
